About Us

Tim Sims – Course Leader, tst CEO

Tim has led tst for over 30 years.

Years ago he decided that remaining a Higher Education Senior Lecturer would eventually take him away from the skills and practice he loved. So he set up tst.

Since then he’s helped the Scottish production teams make Diageo into a major exporter by validating the skills of their workforce. He evaluated a new inspection regime across Welsh further education colleges. He and his friend and colleague Fiona Reed developed banking, cosmetic and charity teams using the disciplines and joy of baking bread together under the guidance of the then Prince Charles’ favourite organic baker.

And he’s always worked alongside and learnt from hugely talented colleagues, leading many teams of associates.

He’s worked internationally. Coached UN teams in Serbia, Bosnia, Kenya and Lebanon, boosted the innovation of a €3bn EU project to upskill disadvantaged groups, challenged the development of human rights and democracy in Albania for the Council of Europe. He’s trained over 1000 international MBA students in leadership for sustainability for an English University. He currently strengthens Supervisory teams across the European Central Bank.

In the UK in the last few years he’s:

  • helped the John Lewis Partnership strengthen the team that leads the ethical heart of its business,
  • coached and trained teams in hospitals with distressing maternity performance
  • helped theatre managers in Great Ormond Street join up their leadership of their theatre teams.
  • and coached small businesses who supply services for nuclear generating in Cumbria.

He’s helped build and establish an innovative short, sharp process to coach crucial small leadership teams.

But his focus is now especially with public health teams, in Wales, across the UK, in Marie Curie and in the UN. Some fee-paid, some pro bono.

By the beginning of 2023 he’s totted up:

  • 1,796 hours of individual leadership coaching with 243 leaders to date
  • 468 person hours of leadership trios and quads
  • 2,566 person hours of leadership team development
  • 1,720 person hours of group coaching (mostly facilitating action learning sets)

In the future

And we will shortly be offering a low-cost hybrid training of young professionals across the UK
